TRAUMA

UTILISING EVIDENCE BASED PRACTICE AND A TRAUMA-INFORMED APPROACH AT ALL TIMES

The reality is, anyone who has a diagnosed mental illness has suffered some trauma during their lives.  Many of us do not think of ourselves as falling into such a category, comparing our own life experiences with those whom we feel "had it tougher".  In actual fact, any significantly distressing experience we have suffered represents trauma for us as individuals.  Not everybody suffers the same level of distress from the same experience.  This is no way suggests a weakness, but is to demonstrate the complexity of the human condition, and the differing levels of sensitivity we have as individuals to varying situations.

I utilise a trauma-informed approach to all of my clients, and have also recently been upping my skills by learning and developing my practice by using Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR).  I am Accredited Practitioner with EMDRAA which requires a high level of skill and expertise.  Contact me to find out more how I can help you, and if this approach would assist in your recovery and symptom management.

DISSOCIATION

Dissociative experiences are common for all of us, however, some people experience dissociation more frequently, or in a way that disturbs them or impacts on their daily lives. Beth is able to work with any level of dissociative issue you may be experiencing with her specialised training in understanding and treating trauma and dissociation.
